A tradition, stoutly assert ed by some Carrico descendants, is that an earlier Peter Carrico, fath er of Peter and Abel, came to the Colonies under the auspices of the seco nd Lord Baltimore. . Page 218. The names of Abel and Peter Carrico appear in MD records ear ly in the seventeen-hundreds. The earliest date found as yet, 1707, wh en Peter Carrico, of Charles Co, executed a deed conveying some proper ty to Walter Story, Perry Co, Hall of Records, Annapolis, MD. C-2 Folio 8 3. Page 218. Other spellings found have been: Carico, Caricoe, Carrico e, Carracho, Calico, Callico and Cerico. . Page 217. Although there has been no written record found, tradition h as it that the two brothers had a sister, Jane, who married John Moor e, a brother of the English poet Thomas Moore. From whence the Carric os emigrated to the Colonies is shrouded in the mists of the years. Eve ry branch of the family has its tradition as to the original homeland of t he family. 1
