Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Bice, RN was born on 24 August 1904 in Dodge, Texas, to Gilbert Johnson Bice and his wife, Elva Roanna "Anner" Gary. Along with her three sisters, she became a registered nurse at the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, Texas. Betty married Daniel Claude "Dan" French Sr, 1924, in Beaumont. They had two children: Joe Ann and Daniel Claude "Dan" French Jr. Betty died, 12 May 1957, aged 52, in Beaumont, and was buried with her husband, next to her brother, John Henry Bice Sr, at Magnolia Cemetery.
