bullet  General Notes:

12/1/2007
After considerable research, it appears that Martha Stewart (Mrs. M.A. Stewart) was William B. Greenhaw's second wife (specified so in the 1910 Kiowa County, OK., census).
Martha was previously married to Eliza Stuart, and had a child, Nancy, according to the 1870 census for Giles County, TN. In the 1910 census, she is reported to have had two children, neither surviving. Since Marhta was age 19 in 1870, I'm assuming that Nancy was her first child, and the record of the second child is not available.
By 1880, Martha's was either widowed or divorced, and living with her brother John A Smith, John's wife, Sarah, her other brother George W., and her mother Nancy in the houshold of John A. in Fannin County, TX. Also in the house was Nancy Stuart, age 10, a niece of John A.
John A. Smith, also known as J.A. or Alexander, consistently found where Wm B and Martha are: in Hood County, TX., in Walker County, TX., and in Washita County, OK., Kiowa County, OK., and is buried in the Greenhaw section of the Mountain View, Kiowa County, OK. In fact he and his wife are buried next to Martha J. Greenhaw (I'm sure the J. was incorrectly provided by the informant for her burial information).
Many of the Greenhaw associated family members are buried in that NE corner of Section 4 of the cemetery. Willaim B. Greenhaw, however, is buried in the New Bayview Cemetery of Corpus Christi, TX.

It seems that young Nancy would eventually marry Wm B's son David A Greenhaw. David died prior to 1900, and Nancy L. is found as the widowed daughter-in-law of Wm B. Greenhaw in the Walker County census of that year.

In 1885, William B. Greenhaw, having lost his first wife in 1884, married Mrs. M. A. Stewart, in Hood County, TX. Records of Wm B end in Hood County, in about 1886-7.
Wm B. and Martha are next found in Walker County, TX., in 1896 tax records. In 1899, Wm. B. is elected to county commissioner from the Cline's Prairie area of Walker County. In 1900 he was appointed postmaster of the Dido Post Office in Cline's Prairie.

******************
It appears that Mrs. M A Stewart was born Martha Smith, married Eliza Stuart, had two children, including Nancy Stuart who married David Greenhaw.

***** ****** Headstone
The headstone in Mt. View Cemetery for Martha Jane Greenhaw: is it for Wil liam B. Greenhaw's wife or some other Martha Greenhaw? Martha is identified with a middle initial of A in the marriage record to W. B., and al so in a Kiowa County, OK deed between Martha and WB. So, who is Martha Jane Greenhaw 1853-1918 if not the wife of WB???

****** ***** Corpus Christi, TX
George E Lum and wife Ada Elizabeth (Greenhaw) Lum appear in the 1913-14 Corpus Christi Directory at the same location as Martha Greenhaw, widow of William B Greenhaw 2
