Hennis Ruff, of Thaxton, died Monday, March 9, 1998 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on October 22, 1920 a son of the late Ramey Thomas Ruff and Ivory Carter Ruff. In addition to his parents, he was preeceded in death by a stepson, Boyd (Goody) Carter. He is survived by his wife, Eula Dooley Ruff, Thaxton; a son, Thomas J. Ruff, Bedford; three stepdaughters, Shelby J. Amos, Cabot, Ark., Betty Tweedy, Concord, Va., Brenda C. Elkins, Bedford; three half sisters; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1998 at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in the Dooley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
