HISTORY OF NORTHWEST MO. vol II 1815-Williams p. 735 (sites William Turner's father's name as Lancaster Turner. This could easily be a mistake since this bio was on Melancthon's grandson David Turner and the information was given by relatives of the time the book was written. Melancthon and his wife died around the time David was born and David's father died when he was six. David's mother remarried and started another family and Melancthon's other children moved away so I'm sure there was not alot of talk or information remembered by David's mother's relatives about David's Grandfather on his father's side. There is also NO information about a Turner with the name Lancaster in VA or MO. If this info in the bio is correct than Lancaster was deleted off every written record of him as though he never exhisted.)

LEFTWICH TURNER FAMILIES OF VIRGINIA AND THEIR CONNECTIONS
by Walter Lee Hopkins, copyright 1931, third printing, C.J. Carrier Co., Harrisonburg, VA 1992
(This book gives a tremendous amount of information on Melancthon's family especially his father and mother. Melancthon is incorrectly identified as having died on August 26, 1817-1819, having married and had children, this information came from a transcribed bible owned in 1931 by Mrs. Fanny Leftwich McPheeters of Raleigh, NC. Census records, land records and wills and probate records as well as his children born after 1819 prove that Melancthon Turner was very much alive until 1848 in Bedford County, VA and then Buchanan County, MO where his probate records are found dated 1848. Obviously the bible was mis- transcribed maybe listing his marriage date as his death date.) (This is another example of incorrect information that was printed same as the above info on David Turner's grandfather's name)
