Probate Records for Andrew Roberts Filed 1844 Brazoria County, Texas Record #333 Last will and testament of Andrew Roberts dated 17 Aug 1844 Says" In the name of God Amen know all men by these presents that I andrew Roberts of County of Brazoria in the Republic of texas being of sound mind do make this my last will and testamentand do hereby will and bequeath unto my wife Cynthia the tract of land on which I now reside together with the appurtneances these unto belonging being 1/2 league of labor and land together with the crops now growing on the same, and all the horses, hogs and farming utensils belonging to the same, and all the negroes which I now posess and own all household and kitchen furniture of whcih I am possessed to have and hold the same during my said wife Cynthias natural life and at ther death then and in that case the property is to be equally divided between my five youngest children, Viz John, Sarah, Archy, Joel and Abner but if my said wife Cynthia shall think proper to marry then and in that case the property to be divided equally between my wife Cynthia and the said minor children and to educate and bring up the said minor children so long as remains my widow and said wife is to pay all my debts which I now owe. I give to my son John my gun, I also give and bequeath to my daughters Margaret Hodge and Mary Harris and Martha Pebehouse my head right- 1/2 league of land. I also given and bequeath 1/2 league of land on the Guadalupe equally to all my children. The cattle lwhich I now own and possess are to be equally divided among all my children after deducting from the stocks such as belong to my said wife, my son John, my son Archy, my daughter Sarah, my son Joel and my son Abner which stock can be distinquished by these brands and marks. And I do hereby consitute and appoint my wife Cynthia Executrix, and Abner Harris and Abner Hodge my executors of this my last will and testament. Given under my hand andseal this 17th day of August. 1844. Signed and Sealed Andrew Roberts in the presence of O.Rowley, A.E. Hodge, John W. cloud,JW Russel, Sameul T. The first census of Austin's Colony 1826 reflects the following:
Andrew ROBERTS p.11 Married, age 25-40, farmer and stockraiser Wife, Sally, age 16-25 One male child, age 0-7 Four female children, age 0-7


11 May 1827 received title to a league of land in what is now Ford Bend County. Also owned land in Gonzales County but never lived there or in Fort Bend County. Also owned land in Brazoria County.

1840 Tax Rolls Brazoria County Texas list him as having 2,214 acres and 177 acres not yet patented. He has 6 slaves, 10 hroses, 325 cattle, and one wooden clock.
Notes from Dave Roberts:
Andrew ROBERTS was a member of the 1829 Militia, serving under James B. BAILEY of Brazoria County. He was on the camp roster at Velasco, Brazoria Co, 25 June 1832, participating in the Battle of Velasco. He lived on the Brazos River at the west side of the 1/2 league of land purchased from his father, William ROBERTS. No marriage records have been found for either of his two marriages. His first marriage to Sally may have been in the Missouri Territory and his second marriage to Cynthia HODGE may have been in Fort Bend County
