MARTIN B. FRAZER was born October 26, 1826, and is the second son of Martin
and Mary (Hiffner) [aka Heifner etc. - GWB] Frazer. Martin Frazer, Sr., was born in Virginia,
September 3, 1781, immigrated to Kentucky in 1788, and settled in Jessamine
County. He was a farmer, was coroner for Jessamine County for eight years,
and died where Martin B. now lives, April 9, 1860. Mary Frazer was born
in Jessamine County, and died July 27, 1848. Martin B.'s paternal
grandfather, James Frazer, was born in Scotland, came to the United States
when quite young, settled in Virginia, and was always a farmer. Martin B.
was reared on a farm one and half miles west of Nicholasville, and farmed
until 1854, then commenced to teach school, teaching fifteen years (until
1879) in one house in Jessamine County. He was county superintendent for
four years. In 1861 he was elected magistrate, served until 1868, and
after this filled out a term of three years by appointment for J. B.
Sparks. He was a carpenter also a plasterer. He was married July 19, 1855
to Mrs. Catherine B. (Dishman) Trimble, daughter of William and Cyrenia
Dishman. To Mr. and Mrs. Frazer have been born six children, five living,
viz.: Mary (married to C. P. (Bourne), William M., Margaret M., and James
and John (twins) Mr. Frazer's paternal grandmother, Elizabeth (Berry)
Frazer, was born in Virginia, June 5, 1748, and died in Jessamine County,
June 5, 1840. Mr. and Mrs. Frazer are members of the Christian Church.
He owns forty acres of land in Lee District, one and one-half miles west
of Nicholasville.
